Lawson’s Birding, Wildlife and Custom Safaris was born out of a love for birds and wildlife by Peter Lawson in 1990. For the last 21 years we’ve been running top class birding, wildlife and photographic safaris in Southern Africa, and as such are the original South African birding company. Peter has since retired, leading his last tour in October 2010, and the company is now run by his daughter Mavourneen Pearce and me (Leon Marais). We have incorporated wildlife-based tours into our repertoire as a natural extension to our birding tours as the two go hand-in-hand. We remain dedicated to the ‘specialised’ tour, with a level of knowledge far more in depth than you’ll find with the ‘general’ safari operators out there. The beauty about being specialised is that one can generalise as well, whereas the reverse is not true. So if you’re looking for a better safari experience, in essence we offer set-departures for small groups and tailor-made tours (guided or self-drive) for individuals, couples or small groups, catering for those with a love of birds, wildlife and wild places. So if you’re looking for a better safari experience, look no further than Lawson’s!
